Required setup
Set the Windows network profile to “Private”
Windows 11 — follow these steps exactly:
- Press Windows + I to open Settings.
- Select Network & internet.
- For Wi-Fi: select Wi-Fi, then select the Wi-Fi network you are connected to. For Ethernet: select Ethernet.
- Under Network profile type, select Private network.
- Restart Flight Companion Connector. Keep Windows Firewall enabled.
- Start Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and fully load a flight.
- Open Flight Companion Connector and wait for a successful simulator connection.
- Connect the PC and iPhone to the same normal home network. Guest networks may block communication between devices.
- Allow Flight Companion to access the local network in the iPhone settings.
- Enter the PC address in the app as ws://<PC IPv4>:8080/.
- If Windows asks, allow Flight Companion Connector through the firewall for private networks.
Flight Companion is intended solely for flight simulation and must not be used for real-world navigation or safety-critical decisions.

2. Verarbeitung in App und Windows-Connector
Flight Companion verarbeitet simulierte Flugzeug- und Routendaten, darunter Position des simulierten Flugzeugs, Höhe, Geschwindigkeit, Kurs, Vertikalgeschwindigkeit, Flugnummer, Wegpunkte, Routendistanzen und Flugplanfortschritt. Diese Daten werden per WebSocket direkt vom Flight Companion Connector auf deinem Windows-PC an dein iPhone übertragen.
Die Übertragung erfolgt über dein lokales Netzwerk oder – wenn du dies selbst einrichtest – über ein privates Netzwerk eines Drittanbieters. Flight Companion betreibt für diese Übertragung keinen eigenen Cloud- oder Relay-Server. Bei der Nutzung eines Drittanbieterdienstes gelten zusätzlich dessen Datenschutzregeln.
Die von dir eingegebenen Verbindungsadressen sowie die zuletzt empfangene Route werden lokal auf dem iPhone gespeichert. Live-Telemetrie wird nach dem Trennen nicht dauerhaft gespeichert. Lokale App-Daten kannst du durch Löschen der App über iOS entfernen; der Routenspeicher wird außerdem zurückgesetzt, wenn der Connector meldet, dass keine aktuelle Route vorhanden ist.
Die App verlangt kein Benutzerkonto, verwendet keine Werbe- oder Tracking-SDKs und übermittelt dem Anbieter keine Nutzungsanalysen. Die simulierte Flugzeugposition stammt aus MSFS 2024; Flight Companion greift nicht auf den Standort deines iPhones zu.
3. Lokales Netzwerk und Übertragungssicherheit
Für die direkte Verbindung benötigt die App Zugriff auf das lokale Netzwerk.
Eine unverschlüsselte Adresse mit ws:// sollte nur in einem
vertrauenswürdigen lokalen oder privaten Netzwerk verwendet werden. Du bist für
die Konfiguration und Absicherung deines Netzwerks verantwortlich.
4. Supportanfragen
Wenn du den Support kontaktierst, verarbeiten wir deine E-Mail-Adresse, den Inhalt deiner Nachricht und freiwillig übermittelte Anhänge oder technische Angaben. Die Verarbeitung erfolgt zur Bearbeitung deiner Anfrage auf Grundlage von Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. b DSGVO, soweit sie vertragsbezogen ist, andernfalls auf Grundlage unseres berechtigten Interesses an zuverlässigem Support gemäß Art. 6 Abs. 1 lit. f DSGVO. Supportdaten werden gelöscht, sobald sie nicht mehr benötigt werden und keine gesetzlichen Aufbewahrungspflichten entgegenstehen.
Für den E-Mail-Support nutzen wir Gmail, einen Dienst von Google. Dabei werden die von dir übermittelten Nachrichten und Kontaktdaten durch Google verarbeitet; eine Verarbeitung außerhalb des Europäischen Wirtschaftsraums kann nicht ausgeschlossen werden. 5. Käufe und Apple-Dienste
Spätere App- oder In-App-Käufe werden durch Apple abgewickelt. Flight Companion erhält keine vollständigen Zahlungsdaten. Für App Store, TestFlight, Kaufabwicklung und optionale, durch deine Apple-Einstellungen gesteuerte Diagnoseberichte gelten zusätzlich die Datenschutzbestimmungen von Apple.
6. Bereitstellung dieser Website über GitHub Pages
Diese Website wird über GitHub Pages bereitgestellt. Beim Aufruf protokolliert GitHub insbesondere die IP-Adresse und weitere technische Verbindungsdaten zu Sicherheits- und Betriebszwecken. GitHub kann Daten unter anderem in den USA und anderen Ländern verarbeiten und beschreibt hierfür das EU-US Data Privacy Framework sowie Standardvertragsklauseln. Wir setzen auf dieser Seite keine eigenen Analyse-, Werbe- oder Trackingdienste ein.

7. Empfänger, Speicherdauer und automatisierte Entscheidungen
Von Flight Companion lokal verarbeitete Simulationsdaten werden nicht an den Anbieter oder Werbepartner übermittelt. Empfänger personenbezogener Daten können nur die oben genannten Dienstleister sein, soweit du deren Dienste nutzt, sowie E-Mail-Anbieter bei einer Supportanfrage. Es findet keine automatisierte Entscheidungsfindung und kein Profiling statt.
8. Deine Rechte
Unter den gesetzlichen Voraussetzungen hast du Rechte auf Auskunft, Berichtigung, Löschung, Einschränkung der Verarbeitung, Datenübertragbarkeit und Widerspruch. Eine erteilte Einwilligung kannst du jederzeit mit Wirkung für die Zukunft widerrufen. Du hast außerdem das Recht auf Beschwerde bei einer Datenschutzaufsichtsbehörde, insbesondere bei der Landesbeauftragten für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen.
9. Änderungen

2. Processing in the app and Windows connector
Flight Companion processes simulated aircraft and route data, including the simulated aircraft position, altitude, speed, heading, vertical speed, flight number, waypoints, route distances and flight-plan progress. This data is sent by WebSocket directly from Flight Companion Connector on your Windows PC to your iPhone.
Transfer takes place over your local network or, if you configure one yourself, a private network provided by a third party. Flight Companion does not operate its own cloud or relay server for this transfer. A third-party provider's own privacy terms also apply when you use its service.
Connection addresses entered by you and the most recently received route are stored locally on the iPhone. Live telemetry is not retained after disconnection. You can remove local app data by deleting the app in iOS; the route cache is also reset when the connector reports that no current route is available.
The app requires no user account, contains no advertising or tracking SDKs and sends no usage analytics to the provider. The simulated aircraft position comes from MSFS 2024; Flight Companion does not access the location of your iPhone.
3. Local network and transfer security
The app needs local-network access for a direct connection. An unencrypted
ws:// address should only be used on a trusted local or private
network. You are responsible for configuring and securing your network.
4. Support requests
If you contact support, we process your email address, message and any attachments or technical details you voluntarily provide. Processing is necessary to handle your request under Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where contract-related, or otherwise based on our legitimate interest in providing reliable support under Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Support data is deleted when it is no longer needed unless statutory retention obligations apply.
We use Gmail, a Google service, for email support. Google processes the messages and contact details you submit, and processing outside the European Economic Area cannot be ruled out. For more information, see the Google Privacy Policy.
5. Purchases and Apple services
Future app or in-app purchases will be processed by Apple. Flight Companion does not receive full payment details. Apple's privacy terms also apply to the App Store, TestFlight, payment processing and optional diagnostic reports controlled by your Apple settings.
6. This website and GitHub Pages
This website is hosted through GitHub Pages. When you visit it, GitHub logs your IP address and other technical connection data for security and operational purposes. GitHub may process data in the United States and other countries and describes its use of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and Standard Contractual Clauses. We do not add our own analytics, advertising or tracking services to this website. See the GitHub General Privacy Statement.
7. Recipients, retention and automated decisions
Simulation data processed locally by Flight Companion is not sent to the provider or advertising partners. Personal data may only be received by the services listed above when you use them, and by email providers when you contact support. No automated decision-making or profiling takes place.
8. Your rights
Subject to the statutory conditions, you have rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction, data portability and objection. You may withdraw consent at any time with future effect. You may also complain to a data-protection authority, in particular the North Rhine-Westphalia data-protection authority.
